About the Course
SeaVet Clinical Training is an intensive 2-week course designed to teach veterinary students and licensed veterinarians the foundations of aquatic animal medicine through didactic lecture, case-based problem solving, and practical experience. Registrants will learn anatomy, physiology, medical approaches, and husbandry considerations for a variety of species groups including manatees, cetaceans, pinnipeds, sea turtles, aquatic bids, fish, amphibians, and aquatic invertebrates.
SeaVet Clinical Training is conducted in a hybrid format, with virtual registrants participating via Zoom and in-person registrants attending lectures at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine (UF CVM) in Gainesville, Florida. The course typically occurs during the last two weeks of June, with Juneteenth (June 19th) observed as a university holiday with no class on that day. Weekend class may be required. It is important to note that all instructional sessions for both virtual and in-person participation will be conducted live, typically from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM US Eastern Standard Time; recordings will not be available.
