* Deke Beuse Awardees: The “Deke” Beusse Aquatic Animal Health Award was This award is established in honor of Dr. Diedrich O. Beusse who served as the Aquatic Animal Health Program’s first director. He worked as a contract veterinarian for Sea World of Florida for over 30 years. In addition to Sea World, Dr. Beusse worked with Universal Studios, Disney, Tiger’s Eye Productions, Paw Print Productions and has been an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences here at UF since 1983. He was a past president of the CVMA and the FVMA and the FVMA’s veterinarian of the year and recipient of the FVMA distinguished service award. Dr. Beusse passed away in 2008 but left a strong sense of value for life with everyone he met.
