UF Marine Animal Rescue Returns Hooked Kemps Ridley Home After Successful Rehabilitation

The UF Marine Animal Rescue Program returned Kemps Ridley “Isurus” back home to the waters of Cedar Key following his rehabilitation at Clearwater Marine Aquarium. The turtle was rescued back on June 16, 2020 when it had accidentally been hooked by visitors fishing in Cedar Key. The turtle was rescued by UF Marine Animal Rescue and brought to Clearwater Marine Aquarium to remove the hook. The turtle was deemed healthy by aquarium veterinarians and biologists and was set for release on July 2nd. Isurus is now back home in the waters of Cedar Key.
