Fish Health Management Workshop

UF Tropical Aquaculture Laboratory in Ruskin, FL
Date: December 10-11, 2012, 8am – 5pm

This two-day workshop provides an opportunity to learn about fish health management through lectures and hands-on wet labs. Lecture topics include: basic introduction to fish, fish biology, and fish physiology; introduction to fish health management principles; water quality; pathogens (parasites, bacteria, viruses, and fungi); treatments, and biosecurity. Hands-on wet labs include: water chemistry testing, fish anatomy and necropsy, and how to check for fish parasites. The workshop is open to the public (fish farmers, retailers/wholesalers, professional aquarists/biologists, and veterinarians) and specifically intended for individuals who have an interest in or are currently culturing fish in ponds or tanks.
